Sonia Tucker

Founder and CEO, Global Media Connection

Sonia Tucker is a CNN alumna with over 25 years of global media leadership experience. Tucker has spent her career advising executives, government leaders, and organizations as they navigate an ever-evolving multimedia landscape. She helped lead the prestigious CNN Journalism Fellowship created by Ted Turner in 1989.

Tucker’s groundbreaking contributions include founding CNN Academy, establishing CNN Bootcamps, and creating CNN’s first-ever Digital & Executive Fellowship. Her efforts have facilitated partnerships with leading platforms like Meta, Instagram, YouTube, X (Twitter), Google, and Netflix.

Over her tenure, Tucker trained more than 2500 journalists from 136 media outlets across 400 countries.

As a passionate communicator, leader, and innovator, Tucker’s mission is to “bring the world together” by elevating communication practices, strengthening media literacy, and equipping leaders with the tools they need to thrive in a rapidly changing information environment. Tucker believes that the media has no boundaries, and with the connection between consumer and brand, major business initiatives can be amplified through partnerships, cultural awareness, and emerging technologies.

Before founding Global Media Connection, Tucker served as CNN’s Chief Protocol Officer, leading the network’s diplomatic relations and global cultural outreach. Tucker oversaw high-level visits, hosted government officials and business leaders, and designed media training programs that strengthened international partnerships and cross-cultural understanding.

In 2022, she founded Global Media Connection (GMC), a media-training and content strategy company empowering creators and organizations to refine their storytelling and strengthen their communication impact. GMC provides research-driven training, multimedia development, and strategic guidance to businesses, government agencies, media organizations, and universities worldwide.

Global Media Connection recently launched U.S. Insiders, hosted by former CNNI anchor Jonathan Mann, becoming the first digital storytelling hub in the Middle East and North Africa. GMC continues to partner with the U.S. Department of State on misinformation training and IVLP initiatives, and has delivered media programs across the Bahamas, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Argentina, Uganda, the Czech Republic, Bolivia, and Peru.
