Marion Phillips, III

SVP for Community Development, US News & World Report


Marion Phillips, III, is the SVP for Community Development and works with US News & World Report leading the company’s efforts in business and community development and engagement, expanding opportunities to grow the reader, consumer, and customer base.

Prior to joining US News & World Report, he served as the SVP of Community Relations at NYS Empire State Development, overseeing over $14 billion in development projects and leading the community engagement efforts on large-scale initiatives, including the Jacob Javits Convention Center expansion, National Urban League HQ, UBS Arena, and over 2,000 units of housing.

Phillips was the founder of Parents for School Choice, which assisted in the drafting and passage of the NYS Charter School legislation in 1999. The organization collected over 88,000 signatures supporting charter schools and helped establish the first charter school in NYS, the Walter Sisulu Charter School in Harlem.

Marion Phillips, III, received a Bachelor of Science from Lamar University and a Master of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary.
