EVP, Interim Head of Small Business Banking, Truist
Eric Lewis is the interim head of small business banking for Truist Financial Corporation. With more than 25 years of banking experience, he is responsible for the delivery of practical advice, full-scale capabilities, and caring partnership to existing and prospective clients within the small business segment ($0-$10MM in annual sales revenue) at all points of their business lifecycle through an omni-channel, advisory-driven approach.
Prior to being named to this position in 2024, Lewis was director of the small business segment. In this role, Lewis developed and optimized the client and teammate experience in the areas of solutions delivery, lending product/process management, segment analytics and reporting, operations, workforce management, business governance, policies, and procedures. Working closely with product team leaders from Deposits, Wholesale Payments, Premier/Wealth and Insurance, Lewis served as the primary alignment and integration point related to the Small Business segment across branch, virtual, and digital channels for execution of all strategic priorities.
Lewis previously served as the head of business banking for Truist where he created and operationalized Business Connect, the virtually driven go-to-market operating model for clients with $2-$10 million in annual sales. Now fully scaled across the Truist enterprise, the Business Connect model has tripled teammate revenue generation at significantly reduced personnel expense. He has also served in multiple Market President roles across the Greater Washington/Maryland region.
Passionate about innovation, servant leadership, and education, Lewis has served on the Board of Directors of numerous organizations including Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, Doctor’s Community Hospital Foundation, University of Maryland College of Education Foundation, and the Baltimore Dyslexia Tutoring Program. Lewis is a graduate of the Leadership Greater Washington, Leadership Montgomery, and Leadership Howard County programs. Lewis currently serves as the Enterprise Lead for the Truist Bold Business Resource Group and was recently named as a Game Changer in the 2024 edition of Who’s Who in Black Charlotte.
Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration-Finance from the University of Maine in 1999. Having received a full athletic scholarship, Lewis was a four-year starter at cornerback for the Division I-FCS Maine Black Bears football team, earning All-Conference honors for both on-field play and academics. Lewis also graduated from the Truist Banking School at Wake Forest University in 2008. Lewis enjoys spending time with his wife Ariel and two children, Selena and Cruz. Lewis is an avid reader, podcast listener, and traveler. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Lewis is a die-hard fan of the Buffalo Bills.
