Tyler Spalding
Sr. Director, Corporate Affairs & Global Head of Social Innovation, PayPal
Tyler works passionately at the intersection of business and social change. In his role on the Corporate Affairs leadership team, he works to develop PayPal’s reputation as a purpose-driven and values-led company that is at the forefront of building a more inclusive digital economy. He leads teams that develop and manage many of the company’s global partnerships to advance thought leadership and social impact, as well as programs that drive strategic engagement with the full spectrum of stakeholders and communities that PayPal serves. Tyler also leads the company’s environmental sustainability, community impact, and employee volunteerism initiatives, driving engagement to fulfill PayPal’s mission, vision, and values.
Tyler joined PayPal from eBay Inc., where he drove strategic communications and stakeholder engagement efforts as part of the company’s first global, enterprise-level Social Innovation function. Prior to joining eBay Inc., he worked in Edelman’s Business + Social Purpose practice, during which time he consulted with various multinational companies, multilateral institutions, and nonprofit organizations to design and launch initiatives aimed at creating positive social and environmental impact. Tyler began his career at Ashoka, an international citizen sector organization dedicated to finding the most innovative social change projects in the world and supporting the systems changing entrepreneurs behind those initiatives.
Tyler studied at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and speaks Mandarin Chinese. He’s a 2015 Aspen Institute First Mover Fellow and a 2018 City & State NY Responsible 100 honoree, and he serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of New York.
