Carol Clarke

General Manager, Southside Development Company

Carol E. Clarke serves as General Manager of Southside Development Company, an entity created to co-redevelop, with the Birmingham Housing Authority, 22 acres of prime real estate in the heart of the Birmingham Medical District that is home to some 450 very low-income families. Up-building people and places is a personal mission for Clarke, whose community service work covers a broad spectrum from urban farming and new enterprise creation to steering Jefferson County, AL in reckoning with its history of racial terror. Previously Director of Economic Development for the city of Birmingham, Carol is a member of the HOPE Southeastern Board and graduate of Georgia Tech.
