Calvin L. Calhoun III

Senior Vice President, Director of SBA

Calvin Calhoun is the Director of SBA for Truist Financial Corporation. He oversees the SBA (Small Business Administration) product and sales strategy deployed across the footprint, and leads a team of expert SBA Business Development Officers (BDOs) who partner with and help bankers and clients leverage government guaranteed debt capital to fund growth and business transitions.

Since being named to this role in 2018, Calhoun has overseen consistent SBA production and portfolio growth, implemented multiple strategies to optimize efficiency and increase connectivity within each bank region, facilitated the internal collaboration efforts between SBA Credit Risk, Construction Administration and Closing; and maintained third party vendor relationships within the SBA industry. He has also served as a Market President, Business Banking Team Leader, Retail Area Leader and Commercial Relationship Manager with Truist. His 23 years of banking experience has been with Truist in Upstate SC/Midlands SC/Western NC, Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN.

Passionate about economic mobility, early childhood and middle grades success, Calhoun serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Institute for Child Success, past-Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Urban League of the Upstate, and on the Community Impact Committee for United Way of Greenville County. In the past, he’s served as Board Chair and Campaign Chair for United Way of Greenville County, and various capacities with other non-profit organizations.

Calhoun earned a B.A. in Financial Economics from the University of Virginia. He’s obtained multiple financial/investment licenses over the years, as well as his Six Sigma Green Belt certification. He’s a Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI) Fellow and Leadership Greenville graduate. When he isn’t working, Calhoun enjoys raising his young son, experiencing life and adventure around the globe, inclusive of wildlife photography and international sporting events, playing golf and collecting scotch whisky.
